Two new sites were added in 2012: a Spanish language site in the US and a Hebrew site.

Hotels.com lists more than 240,000 bookable properties, ranging from 5-star luxury properties to B&Bs and serviced apartments with everything in-between.

An industry-leading customer loyalty rewards programme, Welcome Rewards, was launched in the US and Latin America in 2008, in the UK, Canada and Australia in 2010 and extended to all other Hotels.com sites worldwide in 2011. Members earn a Welcome Rewards point for every night they spend in any participating hotel chain, boutique hotel or bed and breakfast booked through Hotels.com, earning a free night for every 10 points. Free nights can be earned at more than 100,000 partner hotels and redeemed at 90,000 partner hotels with no restrictions or blackout dates. The maximum value of the free night is the average daily rate of the ten nights stayed. Credits never expire as long as there is activity on the account every 12 months. Since launch, Hotels.com has rewarded its customers with more than one million free nights.

The sites feature more than 11 million unique user-generated reviews from those who have actually stayed in the hotels to ensure customers can make an informed choice when booking.

Hotels.com has a suite of award-winning mobile apps for smart phones and tablets including iPhone, iPad and Android, Windows 7 and 8 and the Kindle Fire, the latest addition. In February 2013, Hotels.com launched a pioneering app specifically designed for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 device. The app, which is also available across all devices in the Samsung Galaxy Note series, makes use of the Galaxy Note 8.0’s integrated pen-input technology, called the S Pen, to provide users with a richer and more interactive booking experience. In 3Q13, Hotels.com became the first third-party travel app to be included in US automaker Ford’s “Sync with AppLink” program, enabling drivers to use voice activation to search Hotels.com lodging content for nearby accommodation. Available in 35 languages, the award-winning Hotels.com apps also allow users to search and book more than 20,000 last minute deals globally, sort and filter hotels, browse more than 11 million user reviews plus find last-minute hotel deals close to their location and manage their Welcome Rewards accounts. Collectively, Hotels.com apps have achieved more than 25 million total downloads since launch.

Hotels.com has won several awards in 2012/13:

ByteLevel recognized Hotels.com as a Top 5 Best Global Website for 2012. The ByteLevel report card evaluates websites on global reach, global navigation, global/mobile architecture and localization and social efforts.

Hotels.com was also once again named “Best Overall Customer Experience” according to a study by Keynote Competitive Research in the US and also won. Best Brand Impact in the UK as well as ranking second for Best Overall Customer Experience, Conversion Impact and Customer Satisfaction.

In Russia, Hotels.com won the Best Booking Engine category in the inaugural Moya Planeta awards and was shortlisted in the Best Mobile App section.

In the UK, Hotels.com was officially named a CoolBrand in an influential annual survey to identify the country’s coolest brands in both 2012 and 2013.

In early 2013, Hotels.com in the UK, as part of the wider Expedia.com Ltd family, was placed at No 22 in the Sunday Times Top 100 Best Places to Work, as voted by its employees.

In March 2013, the Hotels.com mobile app was named the ‘Best Hotel Booking App’ in the Hotels & Resorts category by About.com, surpassing several other leading online travel companies to capture nearly half of the vote.

In the same month, Hotels.com was named the Top Travel Website in the UK by eDigitalResearch which measures user satisfaction across the entire end-to-end customer journey, from first impressions all the way through to customer contact. Hotels.com claimed the top spot for its clean and simple homepage, clear navigational links and extensive range of search filters.

In September, Hotels.com was highly commended in the travel and leisure section of the Online Retails Awards in the UK.
