The Hotels.com Welcome Rewards customer loyalty programme offers customers one free night* for every ten nights stayed.
The programme was introduced in the US and much of Latin American in 2008, extended to the UK, Canada and Australia in 2010 and launched globally on all remaining points of sale in October 2011.
The programme allows customers to accumulate their ten nights across chain and independent hotels, B&Bs and self catering properties.
Unlike most reward programmes, which are usually specific to one brand, Hotels.com allows customers to accumulate their ten nights across more than 100,000 independent and chain partner hotels and to redeem their free night at more than 90,000 eligible hotels around the world, including independent hotels that do not have loyalty programmes of their own.
With Welcome Rewards, there are no blackout dates or complicated point systems, customers simply stay ten nights and then take their eleventh night for free*. This is far more generous than the vast majority of hotel loyalty programmes.
Hotels participating in the Welcome Rewards programme are clearly marked on Hotels.com
Ten nights can be booked at once or separately and can be across multiple eligible hotels
The free night can be redeemed at any time of the year – there are no restrictions. It is valued at the average rate of the ten stays – consumers have the option to use the free night for a higher rate room by paying the difference.
Customers can sign up online and start collecting Welcome Rewards immediately.
Welcome Rewards credits do not expire as long as there is activity on the account every 12 months.
In 2012, two new levels of membership were introduced in the major markets. Stay 10 nights in a year and customers can become a Welcome Rewards Silver member with a Hassle-Free Travel Guarantee, Priority Customer Service and more. Stay 30 or more nights in a year and customers can enjoy Gold level access to the most exclusive deals with special offers to top destinations and opportunities to win free holidays.
Customers also have complete access to their Welcome Rewards account details through the mobile and iPad apps. In 3Q 13, Hotels.com also rolls out new functionality on its iPhone and iPad apps to notify Welcome Rewards® members in 89 countries when they have earned a free night. Members of the loyalty programme in the US will also receive notifications via the app when Welcome Rewards points have been earned.
Since the launch of the programme, Hotels.com has rewarded its customers with more than one million free nights
