Fairway to Wellness is the brainchild of two Dallas-based Hotels.com employees who have been affected by cancer and diabetes.

DALLAS – October 2, 2012 – On Thursday, October 4, Hotels.com® and its partners will tee-up to host the inaugural Fairway to Wellness golf tournament at the Cowboys Golf Club in Grapevine, Texas to raise awareness and funding for the American Cancer Society and the American Diabetes Association. The tournament is the brainchild of two Dallas-based Hotels.com employees, Matt Goynes and Brad Koettel, who have been affected by cancer and diabetes. Employees from Hotels.com’s Dallas headquarters will volunteer in organizing the event and proceeds will support the work of these non-profit organizations. “We are very excited and proud to be hosting an event that will not only bring the company together for a great cause, but will also help fund the work of two very important non-profit organizations,” said Victor Owens, vice president and general manager, Hotels.com North America. “We expect that this is just the first tournament of many to come.” The event will also feature on-site fundraising efforts, including an employee coin war, as well as door prizes and giveaways. Sponsors include HotelPlanner.com (Platinum Sponsor); Hotels.com/Expedia, Microsoft/MSN, TargetCast Media, TripAdvisor, Yahoo! and Young & Rubicam Chicago (Gold Sponsors); Criteo, Facebook, Ignition One and Millennial Media (Silver Sponsors); and AOL, Fanscape, Finn Partners, Hulu and W3i (Bronze Sponsors). Information from both these sources is available in English and Spanish. About the American Cancer Society The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer. As a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers, we fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery; and by fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight. As the nation’s largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing about $3.6 billion, we turn what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, more than 12 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year.
